Here on Jumper Spotlight we highlight someone who is, or has been, important to our sport and community. The people we highlight can be athletes, judges, announcers, coaches, or just someone who’s passion for the sport has impacted you, your team, our community, or our sport in an important way.

Today’s Jumper Spotlight is, Kaitlyn Simpson, known also as Kaitsimpson17 on Instagram.
Kaitlyn is a Canadian jumper jumping for the Lakehead University team. Jumping 11 consecutive years, Kaitlyn is one of the most hard working, talented, and active jumpers in the sport. When Kaitlyn is not competing she can be found working at Zacada circus, coaching LU’s jump rope team, coaching Heart and Stroke’s demo team, and she also goes into elementary schools teaching jump rope workshops.
At the age of 11 Kaitlyn had a friend who taught her about competitive jump rope at school. After training with her friend, Kaitlyn tried out for her schools Jump Rope for Heart team. Kaitlyn sadly didn’t make her schools team. However, Kaitlyn’s love for the sport motivated her to train another year and try out again for a competitive team. This time she made the team.
Kaitlyn is an accomplished athlete ranked 2nd overall in Ontario and 1st for freestyle. She holds 7 national titles, and one world trophy. Kaitlyn is a Jump Rope Canadian Athlete Committee Chair, World Jump Rope ambassador, and judge.
When Kaitlyn is not training or teaching her teammates, she can be seen on her Instagram feed @Kaitsimpson17, or participating in a plethora of other sports and activities. Vollyball, surfing, running, skiing, and horseback riding are other sports she loves to be active in.
If you would like to learn more about Kaitlyn Simpson you can listen to her this Monday on the Jump Rope Jam Podcast, or look for her future posts here and on all of her social media.
