Today’s Jumper Spotlight is, Eilea Given, known also as @eileagiven on Instagram.
Eilea calls herself a Canadian housewife and obnoxious rope ninja. She started 20 years ago in 1996 and has been jumping ever since, mostly in Canada. This past July Eilea went to World Jump Rope in Paris France, and then Kaitlyn Simpson and her won the Paris single rope freestyle event at the Grand World Championships.
Eilea started jumping on the very first Canadian jump rope team, and then she kind of went rogue jumping for various teams. Kaitlyn Simpson’s team, Lakehead University, is the team that Eilea jumps with the most. When she isn’t jumping with L.U. she can be found jumping for the Zacada circus and traveling around doing workshops with other Canadian teams.
Recognizing a lot of injuries occurring in the sport, Eilea has become passionate about teaching proper form in jump rope. Eilea would like jump rope athletes to emulate gymnastics competitions in docking points for imperfect landings to force jumpers to learn proper foot placement and in so doing decrease the chance of injury while performing.
If you would like to learn more about Eilea Given you can listen to her on the Jump Rope Jam Podcast, or look for her future posts here and on all of her social media.

Today’s Jumper Spotlight is, Kate Dolan, known also as @KDHays on Twitter.
Kate Dolan is a writer of award-winning historical fiction and romance, who sets many of her stories in her home state of Maryland. Inspired by her daughter, who jumps for the Kangaroo Kids jump rope team, Kate used jump rope as the basis for her most recent book, Roped In. Read the synopsis below:
Poor Karen is trying to re-establish her reputation as an investigator after getting fired during her last case. But she’s not sure how she’s going to be taken seriously when her next two cases involve a broken jump rope and a dead parrot.
In the meantime, her daughter has developed a secret social life, her son can’t be trusted with the toaster oven and her love life is starting to get very strange. And in the office, Rodney the Office Maximizer has new plans to make D.S. Investigations even more professional. There may not be enough caffeine in the world to deal with this.
Kate’s daughter isn’t the only one in her family that has experience jumping. Kate Dolan has coached with her daughters team, Kangaroo Kids, for 8 years, and now works with a Baltimore team called Jump for Joy.

Today’s Jumper Spotlight is, Maddy DeAngelo, known also as @maddydeangelo on Instagram.
Maddy is from Boise, Idaho and has jumped with the Summerwinds Skippers for 10 years. She now lives in Moscow, Idaho where she is attending the University of Idaho studying microbiology. While attending her freshman year at university, Maddy is in the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Although Maddy will be attending college, she will still be competing with her team this year.
During her freshman year of high school, Maddy suffered a debilitating foot injury; Avascular Necrosis in her foot. Avascular Necrosis is a condition that occurs when there is loss of blood to the bone. Because bone is living tissue that requires blood, an interruption to the blood supply causes bone to die. If not stopped, this process eventually causes the bone to collapse. Any competitive jumper knows how hard an injury can be, questions about your ability to continue participating in the sport that you love. With an injury this severe those questions were more apparent. Luckily Maddy recovered and has since been able to continue jumping.

Today’s Jumper Spotlight is, Dylan Plummer, known also as @dylantheplummer on Instagram.
Dylan Plummer started jumping 12 years ago in the 1st grade. Initially Dylan began jumping for the Cincinnati Ropin’ Rockets, however, 4 years ago Dylan began jumping for the Comet Skippers.
Dylan recently created an amazing Google Play app that he programmed himself called the Jump Rope Tricktionary. The sport of competitive jump roping is a continually growing international community of some of the world’s most talented athletes. This app aims to help anyone hoping to become involved in this phenomenal sport by giving anyone with a phone the power to learn all levels and types of jump rope skills.
The Tricktionary is organized by type (Basics, Multiples, Power, Rope Manipulation, and Releases) and by level (1-4). It provides a description, a video, prerequisites, and what to learn next for each trick.
Also included in the app is the Show Writer. This enables coaches and jumpers to quickly write jump rope shows in which each athlete has the maximum amount of break time between each of their routines.
If you would like to learn more about Dylan Plummer you can listen to him this Monday on the Jump Rope Jam Podcast, or look for his future videos here and on all of his social media.
